About
Wode Ceramics was birthed in 2019 after I shadowed under one of the pioneers of miniature pottery in Jingdezhen, China. Prior to working as an artist, I was a film producer in Asia for several years before relocating to Europe to expand and deepen my crafts in glass and ceramics with a niche in miniature pottery.
Each piece of mini is handmade on a mini pottery wheel and high-fired in a kiln. In the past 6 years, I have conducted more than 100 live demonstrations, masterclasses and workshops around the world on ceramics. Past workshops include
- Mini Pottery Wheel Throwing (Signature!)
- Harvesting and Processing Wild Clay
- Handbuilding
- Wheel Throwing
- Experimental Ash and Raku Glazes Mixing
My work and dreamscapes examines the ties between form, scale, function, and expectation. The experimental nature of my works challenges the conventional boundaries of moisture, porcelain, and flux.
I've also designed and manufactured my own portable mini pottery wheel, The Wheelie, launched in November 2023. It has since been upgraded to Version 2 — the world's first tabletop wheel of its size for mini pottery and small wares powered by a brushless motor.
